The Feasts

Feasts - seven

One of the greatest joys of learning about the Hebrew roots of our faith has been having the opportunity to celebrate the biblical feasts.  When I was still a ‘conventional’ Christian (non-Torah-observant), I remember wishing that we celebrated the biblical Feasts in the church, because (1) they had been designed by God Himself (how cool is that???), and (2) they sounded AWESOME.  Now that we DO celebrate them, they’re even better than I had imagined!

Quite a few friends and readers have asked me to do a series on the Feasts of YHVH.  I’ve hesitated because I am still a neophyte at celebrating them myself, but then it dawned on me that if I did the research needed to write about the feasts, I’d learn more about them, myself, and THAT sounds great to me!

Below are listed the links to my articles on the feasts of YHVH.   Each celebration is so full of spiritual food, that each is a true feast for the soul.  Enjoy!

        1. Yes, you’re right – there’s a tight deadline with the Feast coming up in just a few days, and we are leaving for Jerusalem!! I started this a couple of weeks ago, thinking that I had plenty of time, but the project became more involved than I had anticipated, and life kept intervening, to boot. 🙂 Ah well, perhaps it will be useful to someone for next year’s celebration. Blessings!!

    1. Oh I am so embarrassed that I haven’t even had time to finish the PASSOVER article, and it is mostly done!! Time is FLYING by and there are simply not enough hours in the day. But I will try. In the meantime, here are some great links that might interest you. 🙂 https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/shavuothttp://toriavey.com/what-is-lag-bomer/http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Spring_Holidays/Shavuot/shavuot.html

      1. Oh Sue! ❤ You are so kind! Please, take your time, we all live busy lives! I checked the links you provided–I will bookmark the 'hebrew4christians', it's a very interesting site. I also look forward to when you finally finish your articles.

I am starting to realise that there is something refreshing about being aware of God's calendar–like there's not a day we'll have a chance not to think of Him (in Him we live, and move and have our being!). Also, physically–it feels healthier. Like aligning our natural rhythm to the seasons–God's seasons.

But for now, I would like to understand the 'imageries' of the OT festivals, rituals, sacrifices (that includes appreciating 'difficult' books like Leviticus)–how they are taking a deeper meaning in the coming of the Messiah. What else can I say? It's just like a light switched on, eureka! Awesome! 🙂

        1. Oh, yes, I agree completely – it is VERY refreshing to be aware of and participating in YHVH’s calendar!!! I found another site that has TONS of great information about Shavuot, which I hope our group can use while we are in Jerusalem: http://www.chabad.org/holidays/shavuot/default_cdo/aid/111377/jewish/Shavuot.htm — there are lots of links to follow, and I had a blast looking at them this morning. Be blessed!! Shabbat Shalom!
